Our Founders
Frank Espinoza
Frank is a founding partner of Side Out, heading day to day operations. He's an acclaimed senior executive with a national reputation for success. Frank is the owner of two successful restaurants in the Seattle Metro area, and the founder of Climaco Consulting LLC, where his clients have included Brightstar, Sam’s Club, Target, Smart Circle, Sprint, Encore Repair and Costco. He previously served as Head of Stores for Wireless Advocates - the 3rd party wireless retailer in Costco stores nationally. Prior to that he led central operations at Radio Shack.
The crafty lefty plays the ProXR Connor Garnett signature paddle and loves to shake and bake. The rest of the team hopes one day he'll agree to stacking.
Dale Garnett
Dale is a founding partner of Side Out, bringing his extensive financial and real estate expertise to the company with a focus on overseeing financial operations and establishing and growing Side Out's portfolio. With over 30 years in the investment banking and financial services industries, his storied career as an investment expert includes serving as the longtime CEO of Borealis Capital LLC and the CFO of SMI Group LLC, where he's specialized in providing private debt and equity to accredited and institutional investors, and a focus on consulting and merchant banking.
A passionate tennis player for decades, he's quickly becoming a force in pickleball with his booming drives and serve and fleetness of foot. He of course plays the ProXR Connor Garnett signature paddle, and hopes to find more people to play singles against.
Devin Schmidt
Devin is an internationally recognized pickleball coach and player and founder of The Premier Pickleball Academy, the first ever pickleball academy in Washington State.
He is also the founder of Premier Pickleball Camps and Clinics, teaching students to play their best at some of the most beautiful facilities from Hawaii to Mexico (as well as his home state of Washington.)
As Director of Instruction, Devin partners with Connor Garnett to develop all programming and instruction for Side Out. He has coached thousands of players to play their very best and get maximum enjoyment out of the game, from beginners to elite professionals. Devin is also one of Washington state's top players. He's won numerous medals in open and 5.0 divisions including gold at PPA and APP 5.0 events.
Colby Espinoza
Colby serves as General Manager and eagerly wears all hats leading the day to day operations of Side Out Pickleball Center's first location (of many to come.)
Colby is known for his exceptional customer service and business acumen honed in IT and other industries including his family's restaurants over the past 15 years.
He is passionate about creating an unparalleled experience for players of all skill levels to play, create community and have a great time in his devotion to making Side Out THE place for pickleball in Western Washington. He looks forward to getting to know as many players as possible.
Colby is quickly becoming a formidable pickleball player with a nasty serve, and has become an ardent practitioner of the patented Connor Garnett "twoey" with his ProXR
